Travel & Style Edit with Julie Deane, the founder of the Cambridge Satchel Company
Where to visit? I love Cambridge for its vibrancy, history and the incredible architecture. Being in a small city that has contributed to the world in such a major way – it is inspiring just to be here. If there is one thing to do when visiting it is to take a punt (boat) on the river Cam, behind the colleges – there is no better way to see what makes this city special.
Must see? The colleges, the bustling market and the beautiful and tranquil Orchard Tearooms in Grantchester.
Where to stay? Stay as close to the centre as you can – the hotel isn’t important, it’s the being there. Get out and walk, experience the city and the tearooms, cafes and independent shops and take that trip on a punt!
Where to eat? Eat something from the market on the river bank or at The Orchard Tea Rooms. If you are lucky enough to know someone at one of the colleges then do what you must to score an invitation to eat in Hall – the ancient college Halls are incredible and unique.
